How Betting Odds Work: Decimal, Fractional & American

Odds express the probability of an outcome and the payout you receive if it happens.

Decimal odds Decimal odds of 2.50 mean a winning 1-unit stake returns 2.50 units in total. Implied probability = 1 / 2.50 = 40%.

Fractional odds 5/2 means you win 5 for every 2 staked.

American odds +150 means a 100 stake wins 150; -200 means you must stake 200 to win 100.

Always compare the implied probability with your own estimate before considering any bet — and never bet more than you can afford to lose.
